SVP/Commercial Banking C & I Team Leader
When one of my colleagues recently pointed out that I have worked in banking for more than a quarter of a century, it caused me to pause – but it’s true! As the saying goes, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” I have been in banking for more than 25 years, the last 17 of which I have focused on construction, contracting, nonprofits and aviation. Commercial banking offers such diverse niches for me, and the loan portfolios I have managed over the years give me such a diverse customer base. I find the variety of work I encounter invigorating and love learning about each customer and the individuals who make each business a success.
My passion for contractor and construction lending has given me numerous opportunities to be a speaker on industry panels. I have also participated in a work group focused on passing legislation to enable public/private partnerships in Arizona, in addition to authoring multiple updates of the Contractors’ Practice Manual, published by a local Phoenix law firm specializing in construction and contractors.
I love being involved in our communities. I served as secretary of Tempe South Rotary for 6 years, and I am still an active member. I am also a member of the Construction Financial Management Association, and I have been active in the Risk Management Association on a local and national level for nearly 20 years.
I am a Milwaukee native, but I have lived in the Phoenix area since 1997. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in international relations from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University. I live in Chandler with my wife, Becky, and our 3 dogs. When not at the office, I enjoy hiking and climbing (including a memorable mountain climb to 23,000 feet!). I also enjoy writing and am a published author of a fantasy trilogy.
