VP/Special Assets Officer

What I most notice about working at Bell Bank is the supportive family environment and being surrounded with really smart and truly genuine people.

Having been a CFO and served in various finance and accounting roles, I have experience in managing risk, which can benefit our customers. Things don’t always go the way you expect them to, but you can take steps to prepare for the unexpected. I’ve found customers appreciate when I’m able to share my diverse experiences, and they return loyalty.

I especially enjoy mentoring co-workers and customers who maybe haven’t experienced different economic cycles. I appreciate that while we’re always learning, we can continue to learn from the past.

A Missoula, Mont., native, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in financial management from the University of Montana in Missoula. While I set out to be an engineer, I found finance incredibly interesting and began my lending career in consumer finance in 1987. I’ve been fortunate to have had opportunities in commercial finance, business banking and commercial lending, as well as leadership roles in banking and private business. Along the way, I’ve been able to travel, work and live in cities from coast to coast and get to know some really great people.

My wife, Elizabeth, and I live in Chanhassen, Minn., and have 2 adult daughters.

Outside of work, my hobbies include a long list of outdoor sports. I’ll typically become really involved in one thing, then eventually abandon it only to then pick it up again later. I’ve done more fishing recently than anything. I also enjoy hunting, golf (including club-making at one time), and have played basketball and pursued archery most of my life.
