Liberty Middle School, West Fargo, N.D.
The Need
Liberty Middle School principal Michelle Weber and teacher Aimee Volk were looking for ways to foster a positive culture in the school. They put up an “I am” wall where students could express their feelings.
“That is unifying when you recognize other people are doing and experiencing some of the same things you are,” Michelle said.
They also pulled together a group of students to brainstorm ideas to make Liberty a great place to go to school.
The Impact
Heather Heick, vice president and branch manager for Bell’s Time Square location, was part of a panel that listened to the students’ ideas on how to prevent bullying and treat each other with kindness. She was so impressed with their ideas that Heather decided to give her Pay It Forward funds to the school for anti-bullying programming.
