In 2005, Dave was inducted into the Fargo North High School Hall of Fame, and in 2022, he was inducted into the University of Minnesota Crookston Alumni Hall of Fame. His hobbies include restoring antique motorcycles and hunting. He is also a longtime member of Shriners International – a fraternity that works to help children through Shriners Hospitals for Children.
