Bell Bank Employees Give School Supplies Surprise
Three Bell Bank employees pooled their Pay It Forward funds to surprise people in the Fargo-Moorhead community with gift cards to be used for school supplies.
Students and their parents throughout Fargo-Moorhead
It can be a struggle for some parents to pay for their kids’ school supplies. In August, KVRR news interviewed Becky Walen, a senior wealth management advisor at Bell, about the rising cost of raising a child. It was that interview that inspired Jordan Young, Bell virtual bank service supervisor and Tawnie Solem and Carly Falk, both Bell virtual bank service consultants, to pool their Pay It Forward funds to help parents throughout Fargo-Moorhead with the cost of school supplies.
The team passed out 260 Bell Bank gift cards worth $25 each along with a note that said, “At Bell Bank, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. Take these supplies, turn them into something extraordinary, and Pay It Forward!”
In addition to leaving gift cards for children living at the YWCA in Fargo and donating cards directly to students at Hawthorne Elementary and Madison Elementary, the team also hid cards in backpacks, shoe boxes and other school supplies in local stores. And they gave cards directly to people they saw shopping for school clothes and supplies.
