The Need
South St. Paul Girl Scout Troop 52945 was working on a silver award project called Hunger-Free South St. Paul. The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout cadette can earn and involves developing a project to fulfill a need in the community.
Some of the scouts had noticed their classmates went to school hungry, and they wondered what those kids did for food on the weekends.
The Impact
Brent Walz, president of Bell’s Woodbury location, decided to give his Pay It Forward funds to the troop for their project. The girls put together 10 bags of food, which contain four meals and two snacks, to give to elementary students who might not otherwise have food during the weekend.
