Longtime lakes area bankers Matt Schenck and Barb Bertschi have joined the team of local bankers at Bell Bank in Detroit Lakes. Matt is president and Barb is vice president/branch manager of the location.

In his role, Matt is responsible for oversight of Bell’s banking and lending in the Detroit Lakes area, and he and Barb work together to guide the banking team and growth. Matt and Barb lead an experienced team of bankers at Bell Bank – Detroit Lakes, which has provided unequaled personal service to lakes-area banking customers since 2005.

Originally from Hawley, Minn., Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Jamestown College and has worked in banking for more than 30 years. He started his career with Norwest and later joined Sparak/Harland Financial Solutions. He was with First National Bank of Hawley for five years before Bell Bank acquired the company in 2012, and was promoted last fall to senior vice president/ag commercial banker for Bell’s Hawley location. Matt lives in Hawley with his wife, Kim, and has two grown children.

Barb is originally from Valley City, N.D., and graduated from Interstate Business College. She has 29 years of experience in banking, 25 of them with Gate City Bank, where she worked previous to joining Bell. Barb also worked at State Bank of Fargo (now Bell Bank) from 1997 to 2000. Barb and her husband, Tim, live near Perham, Minn., and have two grown children and five grandchildren.

We’re glad to have these great leaders in our Detroit Lakes bank!
