Youth Education - Emergency Savings

Child holding piggy bank at teller line

We’re helping kids build essential financial skills through fun and creative activities. This May, we’re focusing on emergency savings—because even kids need to be ready for the unexpected!

Teach Your Kids to Save with an "Oops Fund"

  • Talk about real-life “what ifs” (a broken toy, lost Stanley, etc.). Share a story of when you needed emergency savings.
  • Create a small emergency savings in a real account, electronically or in a jar (name it something fun)!
  • Praise their effort when they choose to save instead of spend

This Month’s Activity: MAYDAY! A Really Bad Day

Our Mad Lib-style story puts your child in the middle of a hilarious disaster involving runaway animals, slippery slime, and a celebrity showdown! They’ll fill in the blanks, read their story out loud, and reflect on how having savings could have saved the day. It’s a fun way to teach emergency savings—and a sneaky grammar refresh too!
